Overview
Hogenakkal Falls is known as the Niagra of South India. The Kaveri River branches into multiple streams and falls through multiple steps, making the falls breathtaking. The falls are the most important place of Hogenakkal. There are numerous places where you can sit and view the falls. The water here is believed to possess medicinal properties, owing to the numerous herbs that grow in its path.
Tourists can wind through the falls in unique mushroom shaped boats called Coracles.The sound of the gushing Kaveri, freshly caught fish which can be fried in one of the many kitchens by the river, the expert masseuse’s rejuvenating oil massage using local herbs, special oils and ancient knowledge of massage pints handed from generation to generation, all make Hogenakkal an interesting experience.

The best time to visit Hogenakkal Falls is from August to May right after the monsoon. The monsoon months should be avoided as boating is not allowed and reaching the falls is also dangerous due to the slippery conditions.
Travel Options
Nearest accessible airport is at Bangalore which is around 258 Kms away by road.We will arrange transport for you to reach your destination.
The nearest railway station is Dharmapuri (40km), from where we will arrange pickup/drop for a comfortable and hassle free journey.
Hogenakkal is an ex-Banagalore / ex-Hosur / ex-Salem / ex-Erode getaway by road. There are direct busses operated by TNSTC to a town called Dharmapuri which is some 40 km away from Hogenakkal falls. Pickup/drop from bus stand will be arranged by us.
We will arrange commutation to/from home to Hogenakkal falls in a private vehicle driven by a trustworthy driver. However you always have an option to self drive. Hogennakal falls is a short drive from Bengaluru, about 184 kms and 109 kms from Salem,116 kms from Erode and 221 kms from Hosur.
Note - Hogenakkal can always be a day trip, however the real value of a holiday is realized only when you stay atleast a night at your holiday destination. Keeping that in mind, we have come up with a 1N/2D itinerary which can always be customized as per your needs.

Day 1 - Explore the beauty of nature
Since Hogenakkal falls is a 3-4 hrs drive from most of the nearby major cities, we suggest you to leave early in order to avoid the morning trafiic and reach the destination before noon.
Breakfast can be carried from home or you can have it on your way. There are decent eating options near Krishnagiri such as Mc Donalds, CCD & some restaurants where you can get refreshments.
Once you reach Hogenakkal, you need to park your vehicle (in case of self drive) and walkthrough the market area to reach the river. There are walkways built in most of the places on top of the river to provide a better view of the falls.

Coracles are special circular basket boats which are covered with plastic sheets to keep the water from entering from the bottom. Strike a deal with the boatman and enjoy a ride in Kaveri.
Post your coracle ride, you can relax by having a full body oil massage from highly skilled male masseurs who use herbal oils to de-stress your pressure points. A bath in the waterfall will surely rejuvenate your senses. ( Cost for a full Body Massage - Rs 100-150 per person )
Although there are couple of south Indian darshinis (small restaurants) which serve meals in the market area, we suggest either you carry your own lunch or try the refreshments being sold on coracles.
On the bank of this water flow, there will be local people, who will be fishing, frying and selling them. If you like fish, it will be an awesome experience to catch the fish from water, get it cooked in front of you and have it.
Post lunch, you can go to the crocodile park in our cab/self drive which is located about 1 km from the falls. Crocodiles are bred here so that they can be released in the wild. You can spend a captivating time witnessing the wild beast in such a close proximity.

A few kms off the Hogenekkal falls, the Mettur dam is another sight to see.We will arrange for a cab from the crocodile park to the dam. The dam is built at the edge, as Kaveri begins its descent into the plains. There is also a major hydroelectrical station, that can be seen from the dam. Surrounded by the hills, Mettur is a beautiful photography location. Local legend has it when the water level decreases in Mettur dam, we can see an Old Nandhi statue,
an old church, a palace (Koattai) of Tippu Sultan which was sunk inside the water. It is nearer to Koattaiyur and Pannavadi. It is possible to travel by fishermen's boat from any of the places mentioned.
There is also a park beside the dam to relax and laze in the sun. It also has a snake and deer park.

Post sunset, head out to your prebooked farmhouse in our cab/selfdrive for a relaxing farmstay after a long day. For dinner,you can try the delicious delicacies served in the hotel restaurant (buffet). We can also arrange a special family dinner or an exclusive romantic candle light dinner with your beloved.

Day 2 - Seeking the blessings of Goddess Angala
Wake up to the sound of chirping birds and get ready for your trip back to your home. Eat a sumptuous breakfast at the farmhouse. Post breakfast at the farmhouse our cab/selfdrive will take you for a short visit to the Parameswari temple, which is located at a distance of 15 kms from the farmhouse at Hogenakkal in the Pennagram Village.
Putlur Poongavanathamman alias Arulmigu Angala is said to be the goddess of this temple. It is believed that the goddess hails from Angalaamman from Melmalayanur, Tamil Nadu. The goddess is stated to be the saviour for all the infertile and pregnant ladies.
After seeking the blessings of goddess Angala, you can leave for your home destination with the wonderful memories you created during your short holiday getaway. If required, we will arrange for a drop from temple to the airport/station/bus stand.
