Overview
Coorg also known as Kodagu meaning 'dense forest on steep hill' is a place said to haunt you forever with its timeless beauty. It is popularly referred as “Scotland of India". Coorg offers you fascinating views, captivating natural beauty, great cuisine & aromas of the coffee plantations, oranges and honey.The wooded slopes, quaint villages, colorful scenery & undulating landscape has fascinated tourists until today. Endless mountain ranges & forest clad slopes raising to the sky, gives Coorg its unique and irreplaceable character. Besides being one of the most scenic hill stations in India, Coorg is also very active on adventure map. You can choose from a plethora of adrenalin rushing adventure sports, may it be in mid air, on land or on water, Coorg provides the ideal platform for everybody.
Best time to visit : Coorg has a pleasant climate through out the year, the best time to visit Coorg depends on what activities you would like do. Rain in Coorg lasts from June-October, during this time the vegetation is lush green, the streams and waterfalls are full. This is the time to go rafting, waterfall rappelling & quad biking. Trekking, camping, mountain biking are preferably done on the drier months of year (March-May). Winters start from November and continue till February and bring in soothing weather.
Travel Options
The nearest domestic airport is the Mangalore International Airport, about 160 kilometres away. The nearest international airport is in Bengaluru, which is approximately 265 kilometres away. We will arrange transport for you to reach your destination from the airport.
The nearest railway station is at Mysore (95 kms) from where we will arrange pickup/drop for a comfortable and hassle free journey.
Coorg is an ex-Banagalore / ex-Mangalore / ex-Mysore / ex-Kozhikode getaway by road.There are direct busses operated by KSRTC to a town called Madikeri. Pickup/drop from bus stand will be arranged by us.
We will arrange commutation to/from home to Coorg in a private vehicle driven by a trustworthy driver. However you always have an option to self drive. Coorg is a short drive from Bengaluru, about 265 kms,151 kms from Mangalore,106 kms from Mysore and 171 kms from Kozhikode.
Coorg can always be a hill station getaway.However the below 2N/3D itinerary is being formulated taking adventure enthusiasts in mind.Most of the adventure activities are dependent on weather conditions.
Itinerary - 2N/3D
Day 1 - Experience the waterfall
Coorg is a 4-5 hours short drive from most of the nearby major cities. However, keeping in mind the adventure itinerary, we will suggest you to drive safely in the night / choose an overnight transport and reach the camp site for breakfast. Camping is one of the best ways to truly experience the nature. We will guide you to the camp site (incase of selfdrive/cab) else we will arrange a pick up from the nearest rail station/bus stand.
Once you reach the camp site, relax and soak in the fresh calm air of Coorg. When you are ready, treat yourself to some delicious breakfast at the campsite.
Post breakfast, you can keep yourself busy by either participating in river crossing and short nature walk or just sit back and enjoy the mesmerizing beauty around you, as you explore the camp site area. After a short stint at the camp site you will be taken to the scenic Chelavara waterfalls through the beautiful coffee estates of Coorg. Your lunch will be served there. Enjoy the scenic waterfall with some lipsmacking food, as you get ready for your first adventure.
Post lunch, you will go for waterfall rappelling, which is the act of climbing down a rock surface with the help of ropes.You will be held by thick tight ropes as you are suspended from above and you make your way down the rocks. You are made to wear protective gear and are guided by qualified and professionally trained experts. With a descent of 140 ft to 150 ft, climbers descend by stepping on the footholds and cracks on the rocks wilth the stunning waterfall at the backdrop.
Waterfall Rappelling - Duration : 1 - 2 Hours | Price Rs 500 (per person approx)
If time permits you can also try out jumaring, which is a technique of rock climbing using two ascending devices (one for each hand), and two nylon ladders called “aiders,” for the feet to ascend the rope. Late evening, head back to the campsite and relax in your tent, sipping onto the famous Coorg coffee. In the night, spend time chatting, singing & dancing around the camp fire followed by a sumptous dinner cooked at the campsite. Soak in the true camping experience and wind in for a good night sleep.

Day 2 - Trek to Tadiayandamol
Wake up to the sound of the chirping birds and have an early breakfast. Get ready for your maiden trek to the second highest peak of Karnataka - Tadiayandamol peak, at a height of 1740 mts from sea level. With gentle, velvety green slopes, Tadiyandamol is an ideal destination for those looking for an easy going trek. As you climb towards the peak, the slope gets a little steeper but the pleasant weather and the scenic beauty will keep your mind too occupied to realise the fatigue. On reaching the peak, you will be able to view the beauty of the landscape with the greenery stretching below and the misty clouds at your feet. After spending some enchanting time on the peak, you will descend down to the campsite for freshely prepared homely lunch.

Post lunch, our cab will be waiting to take you back to the Chelavara area where you will get thrilled with an action-packed experience of Quad biking. Ride on these powerful 250cc machines in a 3 km circuit of offroad tracks that go winding through the forest. Anyone who knows to ride a scooter can ride these bikes easily. Enjoy riding through the beautiful landscape of Coorg, tackling low and high dunes.
Quad Biking : Duration - 1 Hour | Price : Rs 900 (approx. per person)
After the exhilarating ride you can hop into the cab waiting for you. The cab will take you to one of the best Coorg homestays (Tent accomodation is available as well !!). On arrival be welcomed with hot coffee and local Kodagu snacks. Check in to your room and relax. We will arrange for an ayurvedic massage session in the homestay itself to help you rejuvenate after a long tiring day.
In the night, experince the warm hospitality of Kodagu tradition by treating yourself with local cusines. If you wish we can set up a romantic candlelight dinner with your beloved in a beautiful setting in the resort itself.
Do not forget to try some of the famous local dishes like nuuputtu with kootu curry (mixed vegetable curry) / thoppu (greens) palya / neyi koolu (ghee rice ) / kadambuttu & pandi curry (spicy pork curry) / mutton pulao with kaipuli pajji (citrus in a spiced yogurt base) / thalia puttu (steamed rice and lentil cake) / koli (chicken) curry.
Post dinner, head out to your cozy rooms/tents and give rest to your body after a long and exhilarating day.

Day 3 - Experience Whitewater Rafting
Wake up eary and get ready for an action packed day. Enjoy local breakfast in your resort and prepare yourself for the next adventure activity. Our cab will take you to the whitewater rafting base camp situated near Brahmagiri wildlife sanctuary. The rafting will be conducted on the upper section of the ferocious Baraploe river which is famous for its gradient and turbulence. You will be spending little over two hours in water which includes briefing, a drill and the run that will take you in the river for a distance of 2.5km. Enter the first rapid after 600 meters of paddling from the pool, which is called Morning Coffee, a level 2 range of rapids which are a little gentle. Post which, encounter the Grass Hopper level 3, Ramba Samba level 2 , Wicked Witch level 3 and finally the Big Bang which is of level 4.
After action packed moments, head back to the base camp to change and refresh.
Whitewater Rafting - Cost Rs 1200 | Duration - 2.5 Hours (per person approx.)
Whenever you are ready our cab will take you back to the resort. You can relax & share your rafting stories over the hot lunch served to you in the resort. Massage your taste buds with the lipsmacking delicacies prepared freshly in the homestay resort. Post lunch, get ready to checkout from the resort. However before you start for your home destination, we have one last adventure surprise waiting for you. Hop into the cab / your own car and head to Ponnampet where you will be introduced to microlight flying. Experience the thrill of flying at a height of 5,000 feet and get a bird’s eye view of Coorg. Microlighting is dependant on favourable winds, and there are two slots in the day when you can enjoy this activity. Every passenger is accompanied by a skilled pilot, and has to wear a helmet and a windcheater.

Wear T-shirts, shorts or trousers with adequate foot wear like floaters during rafting. Ladies are not allowed to wear sarees during any of the adventure activities.
